Olocuilta:The City of "Pupusas"

Thirty-three women made the largest pupusa in Olocuilta on Sunday, November 12, the day El Salvador celebrates National Pupusa Day. According to the experts, the giant pupusa measured over 30 square meters this year. The women responsible for its creation come from different pupusa stands in the municipality, pooling their experience in Salvadoran gastronomy to create the quintessential dish of El Salvador.

They mentioned that preparing El Salvador's largest pupusa takes about three hours, with preparations starting days in advance. This year, the mega pupusa was made with 5 quintals of rice flour, 300 pounds of cheese, 100 pounds of beans, 100 pounds of pork cracklings, and 25 pounds of loroco. The Pupusa Day celebration began with a parade through the town's streets, featuring live music and a fair for entrepreneurs. Finally, the pupusa was distributed among the hundreds of tourists and locals attending the celebration.
